Vivant Transcore Holdings Inc. has finalized its acquisition of Bantayan Resource Management and Development Corp., marking the Cebu-based conglomerate's strategic entry into water distribution on Bantayan Island.
In a statement, the company said the deal, executed through the group’s dedicated water business, Vivant Water, granted the firm 100 percent equity interest and full operational control over the utility servicing the Municipality of Bantayan.
The transaction was formalized through a definitive agreement signed by Bantayan Resource Management (Bremandcor) Chairman Alex Monteclar and Vivant Water Assistant Vice President for Business Development Joanne Babon.
While specific financial terms of the buyout were not disclosed, the move integrates Bremandcor into Vivant’s broader utilities portfolio, which already includes a significant power generation footprint on the island.
Vivant Water is now tasked with managing the delivery of water services to more than 4,000 households in the municipality. The acquisition represents a vertical expansion for the company, which has traditionally focused on bulk water supply and wastewater treatment.
By moving into the distribution segment, Vivant said the group aims to apply its operational discipline to the “last mile” of utility delivery in an area emerging as a key tourism hub in the Visayas region.
The expansion follows Vivant’s recent infrastructure milestones, including the development of the Isla Mactan Cordova Corp. (IMCC) project. That facility, recognized as the Philippines’ first utility-scale seawater desalination plant, is designed with a capacity of 20 million liters per day.
The group also maintains wastewater management operations in Palawan through the Puerto Princesa Water Reclamation and Learning Center.
Since 2022, Vivant has served as the sole provider of stable power to the area through its subsidiary, Isla Norte Power Corp. (INPC).
Vivant said that controlling both energy and water assets allows for a more integrated approach to island infrastructure, which is often hindered by geographical and logistical constraints.
“This development completes our vision of bringing reliable water solutions where they are needed most,” Jess Garcia, Vivant Water president said.
He added that the firm's strategy focuses on closing the gap in access to basic necessities in underserved or geographically challenged areas.
As Bantayan Island continues to gain traction as a travel destination, the demand for stable utilities has become a primary concern for local government and business sectors.
Vivant’s consolidated presence in both power and water is expected to provide the baseline infrastructure necessary to support the island’s projected economic growth and increasing tourist arrivals. The company indicated it will continue to look for similar opportunities to expand its footprint in the water value chain in the country.
