ILOILO CITY—With haze affecting parts of Metro Manila and Metro Cebu, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-6 assured that air quality in Metro Iloilo is within safety standards.
“Based on the latest monitoring conducted today, air quality across all stations remains within good to fair,” announced DENR-Environmental Management Bureau-6 on Tuesday, April 21.
The EMB-6 released the results of monitoring from five metro airshed stations for Monday and Tuesday, April 20 and 21.
The air quality index (AQI) in the towns of Oton and San Miguel are within good standards, which means air quality is satisfactory and air pollution poses little or no risk. Oton registered an air quality of 41 while San Miguel is 29.
Iloilo City is within fair stands, which means air quality is acceptable. It registered at 61 and 54 for Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
“While air quality is generally within acceptable standards, individuals who are unusually sensitive to air pollution such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions are advised to take precautionary measures to reduce exposure,” cautioned DENR-EMB.
