Digital 'DCplinado' program eyed

DAVAO CITY – The city government of Davao will review and upgrade the implementation of the “DCplinado” module, with plans to transition the program online to broaden its reach among students in Davao City.
Speaking at the Pulong-Pulong Dabawenyos on Tuesday afternoon, April 21, Councilor Bonz Andre Militar, chairperson of the Committees on Information Technology and Future Generation, said the amendment seeks to improve access to the program.
Militar said discussions are ongoing with the Department of Education and other concerned agencies as part of efforts to evaluate the feasibility of the digital shift, noting that the proposal remains under study.
He added that, as of now, the module is being distributed in print to schools under the DepEd–Davao, where it is integrated alongside regular subjects to promote discipline, respect, and social responsibility among students.
The Dabawenyo DCplinado initiative is a flagship program of Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, launched during the 87th Araw ng Dabaw, in recognition of the Dabawenyo discipline that has taken the city to heights.
It is anchored on a city ordinance approved by the Davao City Council in 2024, which mandates integrating the program into the education system. Councilor Jonard Dayap, former chairman of the Committee on Future Generation, authored the ordinance.
Citing Dayap's ordinance, Militar emphasized that the measure aims to institutionalize the program and expand its reach to children and youth through a curriculum designed to address their needs and challenges.
DepEd Davao Schools Division Superintendent Reynante Solitario affirmed that the program aligns with the department's MATATAG curriculum, which emphasizes values formation and character development.
Solitario said the initiative supports existing school subjects and strengthens moral education. He also noted that the program could help shape future generations if effectively implemented during learners' formative years.
The DCplinado modules cover topics such as civic responsibility, respect for laws, cultural sensitivity and gender equality, personal discipline, digital ethics, environmental awareness, security culture, and financial literacy.
Militar said the proposed digital version aims to make these learning materials more accessible to students across the city as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen values education in Davao City.
