All 175 passengers, including three infants, disembarked safely after PAL Express flight GAP 2544, operating from Dumaguete to Manila, was diverted to Iloilo International Airport on Sunday afternoon, April 19, due to a pressurization problem mid-flight, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported.
According to CAAP, the flight crew declared an emergency as a precautionary measure and landed the aircraft safely at around 4:27 p.m.
Several passengers requested for medical assistance, who were promptly attended to by airport medical personnel.
Philippine Airlines issued a statement acknowledging the diversion, emphasizing that the decision was made in line with safety protocols.
"The aircraft landed safely. We recognize this was a difficult experience for those onboard and we are assisting our passengers and crew," the airline said.
CAAP noted that it is coordinating with the airline for further updates.
