Mayor Emi leads distribution of Benguet vegetables from OP
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led the distribution of vegetable donations from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday, April 18, to residents in several barangays identified as most in need.
Rubiano personally received the agricultural produce delivered to the city on Friday, April 17, for immediate distribution to qualified families.
The mayor expressed gratitude to President Marcos, noting that the vegetables were given free of charge as part of the government’s food assistance program.
Pasay City was among the local government units selected to receive the produce sourced from farmers in La Trinidad, Benguet, following the President’s recent visit to the area.
Rubiano said the initiative is part of a national government effort to support underserved communities in Metro Manila in partnership with local government units.
It also aims to assist farmers affected by rising fuel costs, which have increased transportation expenses for agricultural goods from Northern and Central Luzon.
She added that both the city government and Pasayeño families remain grateful to the Office of the President for the continued assistance, especially amid ongoing global economic challenges.
