Starting as young kids playing songs during school activities, the OPM band Cup of Joe has come a long way.
But having achieved so much already at this point their career, some fans are worried members Gian Bernardino, CJ Fernandez, Rapha Ridao, Xen Gareza, and Gab Fernandez are already thinking of leaving the band to establish solo careers.
In an interview, they assured us the thought never crossed their minds.
"Cup of Joe forever. May tattoo na nga po ako ng COJ," Rapha said.
Gian agreed, maintaining, "Ay wala po unang kakalas sa amin kasi pinatattoo ko na rin po yung COJ."
Xen, CJ, and Gab are now also mulling the possibility of having the band's name tattooed on their bodies as well, implying they will never ever leave the group.
Another first
After the success of their "Silakbo" concert at the Araneta Coliseum, the boys are now aiming to carve a new milestone as they stage "Sandali: The Cup Of Joe Fest" at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan on May 23.
Note they are the first local act that would do so.
The group admits to feeling a bit of pressure given that it's their first outdoor event.
Gian explained, "It’s a different environment. Outdoor kasi and kami ang first OPM artists to perform there so, parang, wow! We feel a little bit of pressure. And this concert is not just for us. It’s for everyone who supported us through the years so we want to show them na we really appreciate all their love and support kaya we want to make this one of the best festivals out there."
"Yung planning and everything, medyo mahirap, but it’s all part of the process, kaya na-enjoy namin. Kasi, it’s all for yung passion namin. We don’t see it as something na mahirap na gusto lang naming tapusin," Rafa added.
The event serves as the ultimate crown for what has already been a record-breaking 2026 for the group. Just months into the year, the band has transformed the local music landscape, with their megahit “Multo” officially becoming the most-streamed OPM song of all time on Spotify, surpassing half a billion streams and dethroning decade-old classics.
Their momentum hasn't been confined to the charts, either; coming off a string of sold-out international legs in the US, Canada, and Middle East, and sweeping numerous award giving bodies in the local scene, Cup of Joe has proven that their brand of alternative pop resonates as deeply in global arenas as it does in the hearts of local listeners.
As they prepare to fill the stadium with the melodies of "Silakbo" and "Stardust," one thing is certain: Cup of Joe isn't just participating in the OPM renaissance; they are leading the charge.
Indeed, this is no longer just a “cup” of music — it’s an entire ocean, and we’re all invited to dive in.
