5 ship robbers caught in Batangas

BATANGAS CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard apprehended five persons for allegedly robbing a grounded vessel in the sea of Barangay Cuta here on Friday, April 17.
Cadets onboard reported to the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Batangas City and Special Operations Unit-Southern Tagalog (SOU-STL) that unidentified individuals armed with bladed weapons boarded the ship, threatened crew members, and carted away metal parts and generator wirings.
The CGSS Batangas City launched a hot-pursuit operation that resulted in the surrender of one of the suspects.
The suspect provided information regarding the whereabouts of his four companions who were apprehended in a follow-up operation.
They are under PCG custody and face appropriate charges.
