ILOILO CITY – The University of San Agustin-College of Law (USA-COL) in Iloilo won the world championship in the moot law court competition that focuses on human rights and the freedom of expression at the University of Oxford in England.
The university announced that the Bulahan Price Team topped the 2026 Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition at the Oxford Bonavero Institute of Human Rights from April 13 to 16.
“A global victory. An Ilonggo triumph,” the university announced in a statement. “A historic first for the university – securing its first-ever championship on the world stage and affirming its place among the leading advocates in media and human rights law,” added The Parliament, USA-COL’s official debate and moot court organization.
The team was led by captain and oralist Marco Giorgione Dava, oralist Gie Ann Marie Aloro, and researchers Kenverly Kirch Duran and Zynnie Zaragos. Lawyer Anfred Panes served as coach.
Dava was recognized as 10th best oralist during the preliminary rounds, another feather in his cap after he was recognized as fifth best oralist during the Asia-Pacific rounds last January.
The team thanked the university led by President Fr. Arnel Dizon and USA-COL Dean Atty. Jose Mari Tirol for their support.
Another team from USA-COL also competed at the global rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C.
