Over 60 jobseekers secure employment at Marikina job fair
To help residents meet their daily needs amid rising living costs, the Marikina City government continues to enhance its job fairs to provide employment opportunities. In a recent event, 66 applicants were hired on the spot.
The Marikina City Labor Relations and Public Employment Service Office (LRPESO), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), organized the job fair on Thursday, April 16, as part of the series of events prepared by the local government in celebration of the 396th founding anniversary of the city.
Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro said the job fair was organized to help residents and nearby areas find and apply for work, especially as the fuel crisis linked to tensions in the Middle East impacts the local economy.
“Now more than ever, it’s important to hold job fairs for people to find stable employment. Ngayong panahon ng krisis, gusto nating tulungan ang ating mga kapwa taga-Marikina na makahanap ng trabaho (In this time of crisis, we want to help our fellow Marikina residents find jobs),” she said.
“Maganda rin itong chance for job seekers to connect with people and businesses that will make good use of their skills, talents, and experiences,” she continued.

A total of 1,227 applicants registered for the job fair. Among the 50 participating companies were Ace Hardware Phils., Inc., Goldilocks Bakeshop, Inc., LBC Express, Inc., Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation, Power Mac Center, Inc., The Medical City, and Bonchon Chicken Philippines.
Government agencies such as the local Social Security System (SSS) branches, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PAG-IBIG, Philhealth, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) also participated in the job fair and provided services.
“Kami sa city government of Marikina will never grow tired of providing you with these opportunities. So every time may job fair tayo, mas pagagandahin natin, mas palalawakin natin ang mga kompanyang kasama (So every time we hold a job fair, we will continue to improve it and expand the number of participating companies),” Teodoro stated.

These activities serve as a way to look back on the city’s more than 300-year history, celebrate its arts and culture, and continuously provide services to all residents),” the mayor said.
“Ito ang aming pasasalamat at pagmamahal sa Marikina at sa mga taga-Marikina (This is our way of showing our gratitude and love for Marikina and its people),” she added.
