Brig. Gen. Arnold Santiago officially assumed leadership of the Manila Police District (MPD) on Thursday, April 16, during a ceremony at the police headquarters on United Nations Avenue in Ermita, Manila.
Police personnel lined up and rendered traditional arrival honors at around 4 p.m. as part of the formal turnover of command protocol observed by the police organization.
Santiago replaced Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad, who has been reassigned to the Police Regional Office 7.
The change in leadership was witnessed by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Anthony Aberin.
MPD said the arrival honors underscored the formal transition of command within the district, one of the capital’s key police units.
