Manila draws steady private support, receives fresh wave of food, medical donations
Another wave of support from the private sector has reached the Manila City government, reinforcing its ongoing nutrition and healthcare programs.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso thanked key donors, including Lauren Chua, president of Lakeshore Merchant Corp.; Hans Walter Chua, CEO of Simon Group; and Lufei Lim, CEO of Greenthumb Precision Farm, for their donation of 100 boxes of Parkadia UHT milk from Poland.
The donated milk will be distributed to residents of Manila Boys’ Town, providing additional nutritional support for children and elderly individuals under the city’s care.
In a separate turnover, the city also received 110 sacks of 25-kilogram rice from the Fraternal Order of Philippine Eagles Inc. - Manila, which will be allocated to beneficiaries of various social welfare programs.
Further boosting the city’s healthcare capacity, the Rotary Club of AIM, in partnership with the Rotary Foundation, donated two neonatal ventilators intended for use in Manila’s public hospitals to assist in the care of newborns.
Domagoso said the steady stream of donations reflects the growing confidence of private groups in the city government’s programs and its ability to deliver aid efficiently.
He added that such partnerships continue to play a crucial role in expanding services, particularly in health and nutrition, for Manila’s most vulnerable sectors.
