LJay Gonzales was happy to repay the trust given by his coaches with the huge game-winner in NLEX’s 104-101 win over Meralco to seize a solo second in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.
Gonzales was shooting 0-for-3 from deep before getting the ball in the final possession from an emergency pass from Robert Bolick. Without hesitation and with the clock running out, the rookie rose for the three-point shot and nailed just as the clock expired.
Talking to the members of the press after the contest, Gonzales said he simply trusted the work he put in when took that shoy
NLEX assistant coach Borgie Hermida, meanwhile, said that the play was really for Bolick and Gonzales to create after the Road Warriors went exclusively to import Cady Lalanne in the previous possessions.
Relishing the chance to finish the game alongside Bolick and import Lallanne, the 27-year-old guard is eager to repay the minutes given to him despite being relatively new to the big league
