Cops probe stoning incident in NLEX

Police have condemned a recent stoning incident on the North Luzon Expressway in San Simon, Pampanga.

The Police Regional Office-3 is investigating the incident reported by motorist Ace Valenzuela.

Investigation said the object, believed to be a welded steel bar, that hit Valenzuela’s vehicle may have fallen or been thrown from an overpass.

The Pampanga Police Provincial Office, in coordination with concerned police stations, the NLEX management, and other law enforcement units, assessed the area and identifying the individuals responsible for the incident.

“We are also reviewing available CCTV footage and pursuing possible witnesses to ensure the immediate identification and arrest of the perpetrators,” Pampanga police chief Police Col. Eugene Marcelo said in a statement Saturday.

People were urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity on the expressway to the police or NLEX hotline.

Police have stepped up patrols during peak hours and at night in overpasses on NLEX to avoid another incident.
