Bol Bol reset his PBA career-high, dropping 50 points to save TNT from the upset axe of Titan Ultra, 97-92 , in the Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Saturday, April 18.
A Bol triple triggered a pivotal 12-0 rally for the Tropang 5G, turning a 73-78 deficit into an 85-78 advantage – a lead that TNT made sure to not relinquish until the final horn.
With TNT trailing for the most part of the contest, Bol kept the Tropang 5G within striking distance before the team finally got its act together in time to turn back the Giant Risers.
The Tropang 5G improved to a 5-2 record, tying Meralco for the third spot.
Bol added 16 rebounds in his career night to go with six blocks. Rey Nambatac was the only other double-digit scorer for TNT with 12 points as the 7-foot-3 import scored more than half of the team’s total output.
He even had 10 of his total during the pivotal run and another layup that helped TNT cushion a late run from Titan Ultra.
Michael Gilmore and Joshua Munzon anchored the fast-paced attack for the Giant Risers as they controlled the tempo of the contest until halfway through the final frame.
Gilmore finished with 32 points while Munzon added 21 for the Giant Risers who dropped to a 2-5 slate.
