"After 33 years, it's the quiet gestures that stay with you."
This was what First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos said on Friday, April 17, when she and President Marcos marked their 33rd wedding anniversary.
Fresh off his visit to Benguet, where he inspected an agriculture trading center, the President gifted his wife a bouquet of vegetables to celebrate their anniversary.
The First Lady shared that the President personally chose the arrangement of the bouquet, which included cauliflower, tomatoes, and bell peppers.
"I’ve received many beautiful bouquets, but this one felt especially meaningful… chosen by my husband himself, straight from the market," the First Lady said.
"Simple, thoughtful, and full of love. Ang sweet talaga ng asawa ko (my husband is really sweet)--double brownie points," she added.
In his message, the President thanked the First Lady for "the life we have built together."
"33 years of marriage. Through every season, in family, in work, and in everything in between, we have walked it together," he said in a post on his social media page, which featured photos of them together and with their sons through the years.
"You have been my constant. Steady, wise, and always looking after our family, while never losing sight of others. Happy anniversary, Liza. Thank you for the life we have built together," the President added.
