BACOLOD CITY – An abandoned newborn baby boy was rescued in Hacienda Bernabe, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, April 15.
Police Capt. Honey Labaro, Murcia police chief, said the baby was found on a roadside by three children searching for spiders. The baby only had a cloth covering his head and face.
Police noted that the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, indicating he was recently born.
He was brought to the rural health unit for medical attention and will be placed under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The area where he was found was dimly lit and far from houses.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
