According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the victims responded to the call from Barangay Marikina Heights regarding the suspect, identified as “Freddie,” allegedly causing a disturbance at around 6:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, the officers saw the suspect on the third floor of a house, shouting and brandishing a knife.
The officers immediately approached the suspect and attempted to pacify him, repeatedly advising him to come down and surrender peacefully. However, the suspect refused to cooperate and reportedly became more aggressive.
The officers exercised maximum tolerance and restraint, prioritizing public safety throughout the standoff.
When they finally subdued him, authorities said the suspect resisted and suddenly attacked the officers, biting one in the rib area and the other in the left ear.
Authorities disarmed the suspect and recovered from him a 28-centimeter long knife.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the Marikina City Police Station Custodial Facility and will face charges of direct assault, alarm and scandal, violation of B.P. 6 (illegal possession of a bladed weapon), and disobedience to a person in authority.
