Niña Ytang, Irah Jaboneta and Joan Monares bid goodbye to the University of the Philippines as they play their final collegiate game against semifinal contender University of Santo Tomas Saturday, April 19, at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Ytang, Jaboneta, and Monares take one last act together against University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, April 19, after being eliminated by the Adamson Lady Falcons in their previous contest, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16, last Wednesday.
Among the three, Ytang, 24, shone the brightest after winning the second Best Middle Blocker plum for three consecutive years, starting Season 85 to 87.
It was a tough loss for the State U as it dropped to 5-8 which eliminated the Maroons from the Final Four race.
In their match against Adamson, Aleksi Lahteenmaki, an NCAA champion consultant of the Letran Lady Knights, was at the helm and will continue to serve as the acting coach of the State U versus UST (7-5) this weekend.
After helping Letran win its first NCAA women’s volleyball title in 28 years, Lahteenmaki, 22, assumed coaching duties temporarily as UP allowed Fabio Menta time to prioritize his health.
