ZAMBOANGA CITY – Lamitan City police arrested the second suspect linked to the fatal shooting of a Lebanese national and his Filipino wife during a law enforcement operation in Lamitan, Basilan on Thursday, April 16.
The suspect, identified as Salman Najirun, 23, was apprehended in Sitio Libi, Barangay Bulanting, after six days of hiding and evading police operation.
Najirun is believed to be the second individual involved in the killing of the victims last Friday.
He was arrested following the apprehension of the first suspect, Jamil Binasing, who was captured in Lantawan, Basilan last Sunday.
Authorities are still searching for the alleged mastermind, a businessman who reportedly operates a car wash on Canelar St., Zamboanga City.
Mayor Khymer Olaso asked the suspect to surrender or risk being shot to death if he evades capture.
The mayor offered a reward of P600,000 for the capture of the suspects. P300,000 was awarded to tipsters who provided information that led to the arrest of the first suspect.
