A sibling rivalry is brewing on Friday, April 17 as sister teams NLEX and Meralco dispute the solo second spot in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup standings on Friday, April 17, at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
In a deadlock with identical 5-1 records, both the Bolts and the Road Warriors are staking their similar three-game win streaks in the contest scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
Setting the table is the equally crucial duel between Phoenix and Meralco in the first offering at 5:15 p.m.
Coming off a 115-110 escape against Macau, Meralco is determined to sustain the run especially with import Marvin Jones finally getting into a much better chemistry with the Bolts locals.
"I think the reason why some of these other guys have had big games is because of him. He knows when to move the ball. He knows the spots, what to do. When you see four or five guys that have more than double figures, that means the ball's moving around. We're blessed right now,” said Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo.
“I think we're at solo second. That's going to be a big game against NLEX, but I can't be proud of the way Marvin has really tried to fit in,” he added as Jones finished with 32 points and 14 rebounds.
That chemistry, especially on the defensive end. will surely be put to test against the offensive-minded Road Warriors who will be banking on the dynamic duo of Robert Bolick and import Cady Lalanne.
Lalanne is a force to be reckoned with after posting 28 points and 18 rebounds in the Road Warriors’ 106-97 win over Macau.
However, there is no doubt that Bolick remained the team’s heart and soul, orchestrating the assault with an all-around effort of 17 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
