Prime Video unveils 7 Filipino Original series at first-ever slate announcement in PH
Prime Video announced seven Filipino Prime Original series in a star–studded event in the country.
The video streaming service held the “Prime Video Presents: Philippines,” its first-ever local slate announcement in the country on April 14 at The Fifth at Rockwell in Makati.
From horror, drama to comedy, the Filipino lineup signaled a significant expansion of Prime Video's investment in Filipino stories through collaborations with ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
The slate announcement event was graced by Caitlin Parkinson, head of APAC Programming Strategy of Prime Video, and Chaitanya Divan, head of Content Acquisition, Prime Video Southeast Asia.
About the Philippines, Parkinson said, “I think we've seen recently the ability to bring content into Philippines like ‘Last One Laughing’ working here like it has elsewhere. And I think what I'm most excited about is really choosing which stories we should really focus on for our worldwide peers and audiences.”
“And I think here especially there are so many beautiful young stars, young talent, young influencers. I'm excited about the young stories, the young narratives, the young storytelling because there's such an appetite for that worldwide and I think Philippines is just the prime place to grow that sort of storytelling,” she added.
David Simonsen, director of Prime Video Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, said, “We've seen Filipino audiences embrace global Prime Video hits like ‘The Boys’ and ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty,’ which shows the appetite for premium storytelling.”
“Now we're bringing that same commitment to quality with local originals featuring Filipino talent. Prime Video brings Filipino audiences everything they love to watch—all in one place: local stories that reflect their experiences, international entertainment that connects them globally, and live sports with NBA, which resonates deeply with basketball-loving Filipino fans,” he said.
Filipino Prime Original series
The seven Filipino Original series coming to Prime Video are “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” season 2, “The Silent Noise” (premiered on March 20), “Love Is Never Gone,” “Honor Thy Mother,” “The Loyalty Game,” “Kopino,” and “Behind Closed Doors.”
“LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” Season 2
“LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” will be returning for a second season with Vice Ganda as host. In the series, 10 comedians will compete to make each other laugh while keeping straight faces themselves—the last one standing wins. Season 1 became one of Prime Video's most-watched titles in the Philippines, with organic positive social media reactions, reflecting how Filipino audiences embraced the format and relatable humor. The “LOL: Last One Laughing” format has become one of the most celebrated franchises on Prime Video with successful versions across Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, France and Italy. Prime Video will announce the premiere date of season 2 later.
“The Silent Noise”
“The Silent Noise” debuted on Prime Video on March 20, starring Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo. This raw crime drama follows a deaf son who must face suppressed truths when a body is discovered in their small town, exploring how silence can both protect and destroy.
“Love Is Never Gone”
“Love Is Never Gone” will star Joshua Garcia, Ivana Alawi, Jameson Blake, Jane Oineza, Michael de Mesa, Epy Quizon, Fyang Smith, JM Ibarra and Dina Bonnevie. The romantic drama is about two individuals (Garcia and Alawi) from different worlds whose lives unexpectedly intersect in Morocco, leading to a journey of love, passion, and emotional healing. It’s about an ex-convict who discovers his dead lover is alive and reinvented as a socialite.
“The Loyalty Game”
Built on the viral social media “loyalty test” phenomenon, “The Loyalty Game” will star Janine Gutierrez, Jericho Rosales, and Sofia Andres. It is a psychological thriller where a fidelity test becomes deadly when two women discover the man they’re fighting over has a chilling secret he would do anything to keep hidden.
“Honor Thy Mother”
Sharon Cuneta and Barbie Forteza reunite in “Honor Thy Mother,” a series about a mother and daughter who are reunited only to discover they’ve become fierce rivals.
The cast includes John Estrada, Tonton Gutierrez, Khalil Ramos and Mercedes Cabral.
“It’s my second project with Prime [Video],” said Cuneta who starred in the 2024 Prime Video drama “Saving Grace.”
Forteza said, “What excites me about this is big companies coming together for this massive or some might call it mega project.”
“Kopino”
The story of Kopinos, or children of Korean and Filipino descent, will be the focus of “Kopino,” a cross-cultural romance starring Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu. They play childhood sweethearts torn apart by fate who reunite in Korea’s corporate world and address the Kopino experience—children of Korean and Filipino parents seeking family recognition. Kopinos are mostly children who were abandoned by their Korean fathers.
Chiu said they will go to South Korea to film scenes with Korean actors.
“It's Korean and Filipino. So may Korea magic. We will go to Korea to shoot some of the scenes with Korean actors. So this is something very new and very exciting,” she said.
Avelino said, “We always find stories to tell that's very Filipino. And one one part about this is Kopino. It's a story about Korean Filipinos who are looking for their identity. So it's something very exciting. It's something unique to us and it's something local that we can be proud of hopefully.”
“Behind Closed Doors”
“Behind Closed Doors” is about political intrigue starring Marian Rivera, a sharp-tongued radio announcer whose secret affair with the Philippine president—played in a special participation by Dingdong Dantes—is exposed. This will make her the prime suspect in his assassination and put her on a collision course with his daughter, portrayed by Jillian Ward.
Rivera said she was drawn to the project because it’s “offbeat.” She said this is the first time that she will be playing the roles of a mistress and a journalist.
“So I said, why not try something new for me and I think this is a good project for me,” she said.
“This slate represents the depth of our collaboration with Filipino creators and studios. Working closely with ABS-CBN and GMA, we’re supporting local storytellers to bring their visions to life—stories that speak to our local Filipino audiences while showcasing the incredible Filipino talents. These are central to our commitment of building a content library that serves our Filipino customers’ diverse tastes,” said Divan.
Prime Video also announced exclusive licensed Filipino films in 2026, including “Samahan ng mga Makasalanan,” “Gabi ng Lagim,” the Bayaniverse trilogy: “Quezon,” “Heneral Luna,” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” “Bar Boys: After School,” and “Open Endings.”
