TACLOBAN CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attended the mass oath-taking of 2,121 newly promoted teachers and principals under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) at the Tacloban City Convention Center on Wednesday.
"I am happy to be a witness of the continuing program that we have that will fulfill my promise during my State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) that no one will no longer retire as Teacher I here because it is not right and we all know your sacrifices," Marcos said. "The entire Filipino nation joins you in recognizing your achievements and affirms the greater responsibility that we have entrusted to you," he added.
A total of 1,679 teachers were promoted under the ECP System and 442 under the non-ECP track.
Oath-takers include 26 longest-serving teachers and two beneficiaries of the “Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir” (SPIMS) program, an initiative that supports the reintegration of licensed Overseas Filipino Worker teachers into the country’s public school system.
More than 65,000 teachers and school heads have been promoted under the ECP from August 2025 up to present.
Marcos also said that the government has released the P10,000 teaching supply allowance for School Year 2025 to 2026.
The President attended the “Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa National Reintegration Network Regional Fair and Balik Turo: A Hero’s Journey Way Home in Tacloban City” on Wednesday.
The program brings together government agencies to provide returning OFWs, especially those affected by the conflict in the Middle East, with access to employment opportunities, livelihood support, and welfare programs.
Marcos visited Pinabacdao, Samar to witness the payout of the “Walang Gutom” program.
