The Pasay City government has announced that a dry run of a two-way traffic scheme will be implemented at the Nichols Interchange starting Monday, April 20.
According to Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO), headed by Ferdinand Lee, will conduct the test at the Nichols Interchange leading to Merville West Service Road in Barangay 201 starting at 6:00 a.m.
Rubiano said the dry run is part of ongoing efforts to ease traffic congestion and improve vehicle mobility in the area, particularly at the interchange, which serves as a major access point for motorists traveling to and from nearby residential communities and business districts.
Lee said traffic personnel will be deployed on-site to manage vehicle flow, assist motorists, and monitor the effectiveness of the new scheme.
Signages and directional markers will also be installed to guide drivers during the dry run period.
Motorists are advised to expect possible slowdowns during the initial implementation as adjustments are made.
The TPMO chief said the results of the dry run will be evaluated to determine whether the two-way traffic scheme will be permanently adopted or further modified.
Meanwhile, a temporary counterflow lane will be allowed along Park Avenue to accommodate affected residents amid ongoing road works.
The counterflow will be open to motorists traveling from Galvez Street to Arnaiz Avenue, providing an alternate route to ease traffic buildup in the area.
This arrangement will remain in effect until further notice.
Lee added that the implementation is in line with Executive Order No. 110, series of 2026, which enforces a harmonized truck ban schedule across Metro Manila.
Under the order, trucks are prohibited from plying major roads from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Authorities urged motorists to plan their trips, take alternative routes when necessary, and strictly follow traffic signs and instructions from enforcers to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience.
