CEBU CITY – More than 1,000 license plates have been released since the Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7) launched the Friendly Flag Down program.
The LTO-7 has released at least 1,000 license plates in Cebu and 77 in Bohol as of April 14.
The program aims to fast-track the release of unclaimed motor vehicle plates, said LTO-7 Director Wendel Dinglasan.
Dinglasan said the initiative is part of LTO-7’s strengthened campaign to ensure compliance with registration laws while delivering immediate, on-the-ground public service to motorists.
“This initiative is not merely about enforcement—it is about bringing government services closer to the people. We are here to help motorists secure their plates in the most efficient and convenient way possible,” Dinglasan said.
The operation is conducted daily between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
During the operation, motorists flagged down will be courteously approached and informed of the proper process for claiming their plates.
Drivers will be required to present their Motor Vehicle Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR) to allow LTO personnel to verify records and determine the status of their plate availability.
Motor vehicles and motorcycles with verified and complete records may even be issued their physical plates on the spot.
The LTO-7 encouraged vehicle owners to cooperate and carry the necessary documents at all times to facilitate faster verification and assistance.
