- A legal battle brews between Alfred Vargas and Rob Sy over alleged child bullying at a swimming event. Both camps speak out as the issue escalates.
A full-blown legal showdown is shaping up between actor-politician Alfred Vargas and actor Rob Sy.
And it’s getting more intense by the day.
At the center of the controversy: serious allegations of bullying involving their children during swimming activities.
Vargas and his wife, Yasmine Espiritu, claim their son has been repeatedly targeted by Sy’s child.
The accusations are alarming. It ranges from being pushed and mocked to being held underwater, raising fears for the young boy’s safety.
Tensions reportedly peaked during a competition at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, where Vargas alleged his son was shoved near the pool area just moments before an event.
The couple has since taken legal action, filing a complaint in Quezon City and invoking laws that protect minors from physical and psychological harm.
But Sy is not staying silent.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, the actor denied all allegations and accused the other camp of distorting the truth.
“Sobrang sakit bilang magulang na maakusahan ang aking 8-year-old na anak lalo na’t hindi totoo at malinaw na binaliktad ang naratibo. Tama na! Sobra na!”
Sy, who describes himself as someone who avoids conflict, said he was compelled to speak out to defend his family.
“Ipaglalaban po namin ang katotohanan. Wala man kaming yaman at impluwensya, hawak namin ang integridad at katotohanan.”
What started as a children’s issue has now exploded into a high-stakes legal and public relations battle that raises bigger questions about parenting, accountability, and the real cost of bullying.
With both camps standing firm and emotions running high, this is one fight the public will be watching closely.
