Manila's 'Hot Meals on Wheels' benefits 800 in Tondo on first day
Warm meals and on-the-ground assistance reached drivers and commuters in Tondo, Manila, as the city government continued its “Hot Meals on Wheels” program on April 14 and 15, coinciding with the start of a three-day transport strike on April 15.
On its first day on Tuesday, April 14, the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) brought the initiative to Pritil, where 260 public utility drivers, commuters, and passersby were served hot meals amid the usual rush of traffic in the area.
As transport groups staged a three-day strike beginning April 15, the initiative also provided immediate relief to affected commuters and drivers, offering not only meals but assistance during a period of limited mobility.
