Police arrested two men who were found carrying firearms and a hand grenade during a late-night operation in Barangay 73, Caloocan City, on Tuesday, April 14.
Operatives of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) of the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) responded after receiving information about two armed individuals roaming the area and allegedly looking for a person linked to their illegal activities.
Police said the suspects, aged 36 and 40, were spotted carrying firearms tucked in their waistlines, prompting authorities to approach them for verification.
Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, resulting in a brief chase that led to their arrest.
Recovered from the suspects were a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition and a hand grenade from the 36-year-old, and a caliber .38 revolver with ammunition from the 40-year-old.
The suspects failed to present any legal documents authorizing possession of the firearms and explosive, police said.
They are facing charges for disobedience to a person in authority, violation of firearms laws, and illegal possession of explosives.
Northern Police District (NPD) Director PBGen. Christopher R. Dela Cruz commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism during the operation.
