BPO worker shot by robbers in Antipolo; suspect nabbed in Oplan Sita
Authorities are hunting down the remaining suspect in the attempted robbery and shooting of a 47-year-old BPO employee, who was wounded during the incident in Antipolo City.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said the incident occurred while the victim was outside a building on Sumulong Highway in Barangay Sta. Cruz at around 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 11.
Authorities said that while outside, the victim was using his phone when the suspects on board a motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of him.
The backrider alighted from the motorcycle and was about to approach him. However, the victim reportedly kicked the suspect after sensing something was wrong.
The victim immediately ran inside the building, but the suspect suspect shot him twice, hitting him in the left arm.
The incident was immediately reported to authorities. The victim was able to identify the suspect and the motorcycle through CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, at around 4 p.m. on the same day, one of the suspects, identified as “Ogag,” was arrested during an Oplan Sita after being flagged down while riding a motorcycle that matched the description provided by the victim.
However, his backrider managed to escape and remains at large.
Ogag also failed to present the required documents for the vehicle. During a body search, a caliber .45 Armscor pistol loaded with seven rounds was recovered.
On Monday, April 13, the suspect was charged with attempted robbery with frustrated homicide. He is currently detained at the Antipolo Component City Police Station.
