ZAMBOANGA CITY – The people of Basilan are seeking justice for a teacher who was stabbed to death on a barangay road in Lamitan City on Sunday, April 13.
The victim, Joselito Alumbro Orbuda, a resident of Barangay Limo-ok, Lamitan City, and a teacher of the Mindanao Autonomous College, was found dead in Sitio Maalum, Barangay Sengal.
The Lamitan City Police Station (CPS) said the grim discovery was reported around 1:30 a.m. by a concerned citizen who discovered Orbuda's body.
Police found the victim lying on his back. His identity was confirmed through his driver’s license.
Investigation revealed that two motorcycles were seen passing through the area shortly before his body was found. The crime scene was described as dark and sparsely populated.
Police are actively pursuing leads to determine the motive behind the murder and identify the perpetrator.
Lamitan City chief of police Police Lt. Col. Elmer P. Solon condoled with the victim’s family and said they are looking at robbery as a possible motive.
Basilan residents and netizens paid tribute to the teacher for his contributions to the education of his students and kindness and sincerity.
