The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested two suspects and confiscated marijuana and vape devices containing suspected liquid marijuana in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bagong Silangan on Monday, April 14.
The operation was conducted at around 1:50 a.m. on Brookside Street in Barangay Bagong Silangan, following intelligence received by Police Station 13 on alleged illegal drug activity in the area.
A pre-arranged buy-bust operation was conducted under the Philippine National Police’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO).
Police identified the suspects as alias “Taton,” 24, and “Lorence,” 27, both residents of the area.
They were arrested after selling P500 worth of marijuana to a poseur-buyer.
Seized during the operation were 300 grams of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, about three grams of suspected high-grade marijuana or “kush,” and 24 disposable vape devices containing suspected liquid marijuana.
Authorities placed the total value of the confiscated items at P76,500.
Also recovered were additional marijuana sachets, bundled plant materials, THC vape cartridges in assorted packaging, a mobile phone, and the marked money used in the transaction.
Authorities said alias “Taton” had a prior case for frustrated homicide in 2018, indicating previous involvement in criminal activity.
The arrested suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD director, commended the operating unit, saying the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign under EMPO will continue in coordination with the community to maintain a safe and drug-free Quezon City.
