Leyte town builds P8-M rural health unit annex building
OFFICIALS grace the groundbreaking of an RHU annex building in Albuera, Leyte.
ALBUERA, Leyte – To improve healthcare services here, the local government is constructing a rural health unit annex building in Barangay San Pedro.
Mayor Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa said they have allocated P8 million for the construction from their development fund.
“We will start our dream of serving our brothers and sisters in need without going to Ormoc City and Baybay City,” Espinosa said during the groundbreaking ceremony on Monday.
The official lamented that despite being situated between the cities of Baybay and Ormoc, Albuera faces serious challenges in accessing timely healthcare due to overcrowded hospitals.
“This issue became more evident during the pandemic, often leaving Tacloban as the only option for urgent care.”
Espinosa said that the building will pave the way for the construction of a community hospital in Albuera to ensure accessible and life-saving medical services.
“Healthcare is not a privilege but a basic need. We are planting seeds for a better future for the generations to come.”
