'Hawak ko ang fleet!': Manila unveils P4K e-fuel cards for jeepney drivers
On Tuesday, April 14, the mayor presented Petron Fleet Cards donated by an unidentified benefactor, which will be distributed to more than 1,000 participating drivers.
Domagoso said the total assistance amounts to P4.9 million, with each jeepney driver set to receive four P1,000 fuel cards, or P4,000 in total.
He said he has directed Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) Director Dennis Viaje to ensure the distribution of four fuel cards per driver, calling it a gesture of appreciation for their service to the commuting public.
“Binigyan ko ng direktiba si MTPB Director Dennis Viaje na bawat isang driver ay tatanggap ng apat na piraso o worth P4,000 na fleet card na may lamang tig-P1,000 (I have instructed MTPB Director Dennis Viaje that each driver will receive four pieces, or a total of P4,000 worth of fleet cards, each containing P1,000),” the mayor said.
Domagoso also lauded the jeepney drivers for their participation in the program, calling it a strong display of solidarity during difficult times and a meaningful example of cooperation between the city government and transport workers.
“Itinatangos ko ng ilong at ipinagyayabang ang kabutihang loob ng mga drayber ng Lungsod ng Maynila. I’m really proud of you. Nagtulong-tulong tayo sa gitna ng krisis (I hold my head high and take pride in the kindness and goodwill of the jeepney drivers of the City of Manila. I’m really proud of you. We all helped each other in the midst of the crisis),” he added, noting how collective efforts helped sustain mobility for commuters amid ongoing challenges.
