Arthaland, through its subsidiary Sotern Land Corporation, has partnered with Ateneo de Manila University to construct a dedicated pedestrian footbridge that directly connects Arthaland’s residential development, Liv. Located at the Esteban Abada side of Katipunan Avenue to the Ateneo campus, the footbridge is open for public use, ensuring that its benefits extend beyond residents. Formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement, the project stands as a rare example of private sector participation in public mobility infrastructure, transforming a daily challenge into a shared community solution.
Rather than functioning as a simple crossing, the footbridge represents a collective investment in safety, accessibility, and long term urban improvement. It addresses a practical need while reflecting a broader vision of how institutions and developers can work together to shape better city experiences.
Elevated connectivity as a new urban idea
While traditional footbridges are often built purely for function, the Katipunan footbridge introduces a different approach. Designed as part of Liv’s retail podium and residential environment, the structure becomes seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
This concept, described as elevated connectivity, creates continuity between home, commerce, and education. Residents can move from living spaces to retail areas and onward to campus without disruption, reinforcing a Live Work Learn ecosystem that aligns with modern urban planning ideals. Instead of interrupting movement, the bridge becomes part of the natural flow of the neighborhood. The project highlights how thoughtful design can encourage people to walk safely and comfortably.
Liv as a gateway to connected living
At the center of this development is Liv by Arthaland, positioned as the residential anchor of the project. Located along Katipunan Avenue, Liv becomes the only residential development in Loyola Heights with a direct and dedicated connection to the Ateneo campus.
For families with students, faculty members balancing academic and personal commitments, or professionals seeking efficiency in daily routines, proximity reshapes everyday life. Travel time shortens, routines simplify, and the distance between responsibilities becomes easier to manage.
Liv presents itself not simply as a residence but as a gateway that links academic energy with modern urban comfort, reflecting how living spaces can evolve alongside the communities they serve.
Integrated infrastructure strengthens long term property value by embedding convenience into the design itself. Safety, accessibility, and walkability become enduring advantages rather than temporary features.
The development appeals to parents investing in student housing and individuals looking for practical city living anchored in sustainability. These decisions align with Arthaland's broader commitment to responsible development, where environmental stewardship and human centered design guide each project.

Safety, mobility, and the everyday commuter
The impact of connectivity will not be limited to residents alone. Its most visible effect unfolds in the daily journeys of the wider community.
The elevated passage removes the need for pedestrians to navigate heavy traffic at street level, offering students, faculty, parents, and nearby residents a secure and direct route across Katipunan Avenue.
Safer pedestrian movement also changes daily behavior. When walking becomes less stressful, people are more likely to choose it over short vehicle trips. This shift supports a healthier commuting culture while easing the mental strain often associated with navigating busy roads.
A 50-year vision rooted in community well being
The partnership between Arthaland and Ateneo de Manila University reflects a long term commitment, spanning 50 years. Such a timeline signals forward-thinking urban stewardship grounded in shared responsibility.
Educational institutions and property developers rarely collaborate at this scale, yet the initiative demonstrates how aligned goals can influence city growth. By prioritizing safety, accessibility, and sustainability, the partnership contributes to building neighborhoods that support both learning and living for generations.
A model for future city partnerships
Beyond Katipunan, the footbridge offers a glimpse into how Metro Manila’s urban challenges can be addressed through collaboration. Infrastructure, when shaped by shared purpose, can foster community instead of merely solving congestion.
The project suggests a future where private and institutional partnerships help cities grow more thoughtfully, placing people at the center of planning decisions.
At ground level, the impact is simple yet meaningful. A safer walk to school, a calmer daily commute, a neighborhood that feels easier to navigate. In these small but significant moments, connectivity becomes not just about movement but about quality of life, marking Liv and Arthaland's initiative as a step toward a more walkable and people centered urban future.
Liv marks expansion of its sustainable residential portfolio in Quezon City, serving as its first mid-market venture in the north of Metro Manila. Designed for urban professionals and families, Liv brings multi-awarded "green DNA" to a broader audience, proving that a healthy and eco-responsible lifestyle is a non-negotiable standard for modern city living.
