Fernando, accompanied by PSWDO head Rowena Joson-Tiongson, Mayor Leonardo “Ding” Valeda, and the Obando municipal social welfare office, personally visited the evacuation center to provide food packs, cash aid, and essential items such as pillows, blankets, and mats.
Support was also extended to children and senior citizens who fell ill due to the incident.
In his dialogue with residents, the governor discussed Bulacan’s forthcoming waste-to-energy and biogas facilities to be built in San Ildefonso.
He explained that the project will prevent waste accumulation in material recovery facilities and contribute to the province’s electricity supply through incineration processing.
Fernando stressed that the initiative, to be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP), is designed to provide a long-term solution to scattered waste and garbage across Bulacan.
He noted that the project, developed from studies in Japan, will soon break ground -- marking the first of its kind in the Philippines.
