BACOLOD CITY – This highly-urbanized city has released rice assistance to 2,200 Transportation Network Vehicle Services drivers since Sunday, April 12.
They received five kilos of rice each from the city government to provide relief amid the oil crisis.
Validation of the list of names for the release of their fuel subsidy is ongoing.
An orientation and verification of documents started on Sunday at the Bacolod City Government Center in preparation of the distribution of the assistance from the national government.
The city government has been coordinating with each TNVS company to verify their names.
They were ordered to present a driver’s license and a valid identification card with a Bacolod City address to ensure the easy and convenient processing of government assistance.
More than 8,000 tricycle drivers in the city received P5,000 fuel subsidy from April 8 to 10.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD NIR) reported on Monday, April 13, that it has released P169.85 million in cash relief assistance to 33,970 tricycle drivers in 19 cities in a three-day payout for a 97.13 percent accomplishment rate.
The DSWD-NIR is preparing for Phase 2 of the payout, which will serve tricycle drivers in municipalities throughout the region.
