Kultura spotlights Filipinas building communities and connections
Every Women’s Month, Kultura honors Filipinas whose stories reflect purpose, cultural pride, leadership, and community through #CelebrateEveryFilipina. In 2026, the campaign highlighted the power of collective impact and unity, showcasing Filipinas who champion safe spaces, build networks, and bring people together.
Leading this year’s celebration were three remarkable women: Matchmaking Philippines and Singles Events Manila founder Vanessa Antonio, Just Show Up Run Club founder Ashley Cayuca, and National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes. Beyond their individual achievements, each of these women is dedicated to building meaningful communities, fostering enduring connections, and creating lasting legacies that continue to redefine what it means to be an empowered Filipina.

Vanessa Antonio, better known as Coach Vee, creates communities where Filipinas connect with international partners through intentional, respectful matchmaking. Her work centers on choice, clarity, and shared values, helping Filipinas navigate the modern dating landscape with confidence.
For Coach Vee, love and ambition are not mutually exclusive. “Why choose between love and career when you can have both?” Through her work, she also challenges long-standing stereotypes about Filipinas dating foreigners. As she puts it, “A lot of Filipinas are fit, beautiful, and equally successful.”
Coach Vee wears butterfly sleeves, drawn to how their bold structure takes up space—because Filipina women deserve to do the same, proudly and unapologetically. The contrast between modern denim and traditional terno sleeves also reflects her philosophy that Filipinas can embrace both heritage and ambition. “I hope to see more Filipino women being lady bosses in the morning,” she says, “and celebrating their femininity after work.”

Ashley Cayuca is the founder of Just Show Up Run Club, a wellness community that encourages movement as a form of healing and discipline as a source of joy. At the heart of her growing community is a simple yet powerful mantra: just show up.
Ashley believes consistency transforms women in the most beautiful ways. Many runners initially arrive feeling unsure or intimidated, but week after week, something shifts. As members continue to show up for themselves, the run club evolves beyond fitness, becoming a supportive, empowering space where friendships and confidence naturally grow.
Ashley wears an upcycled terno bolero paired with an embroidered skirt, a look she appreciates for its strong structure and commanding silhouette. The intricate details balance that strength with softness, reflecting the same harmony found in her community—intentional, grounded, and built with care.

A National Artist for Dance and founder of Alice Reyes Dance Philippines, Alice Reyes has profoundly shaped generations of Filipino dancers. She has spent decades building a tightly knit artistic community rooted in discipline, creativity, and national identity, encouraging students to keep dance alive by passing the practice from one generation to the next.
For Alice, discipline lies at the heart of both dance and life. Training requires absolute control of one’s body and a commitment to growth, guided by a singular goal: to always strive for improvement. The only way forward, she believes, is through persistence—consistently putting in the work until even the most difficult challenges are overcome.
Alice wears a handwoven and embroidered piña silk opera coat, a look that reflects the resourcefulness and artistry innately embedded in Filipino culture. What struck Alice most about the ensemble is how it represents the ingenuity of Pinoy craftsmanship. “I find that Filipinos have this innate talent and ability to work with what nature has given us.” Much like in dance, Filipinos are able to take seemingly simple materials like pineapple leaves and transform them into something truly special.
