Green shift: Muntinlupa police get electric patrol cars
Muntinlupa police rolled out eight new electric patrol vehicles on Monday, April 13, a move city officials said will cut fuel costs and boosts sustainable operations amid soaring oil prices.
“Matagal na nating sinimulan ang procurement nito bilang bahagi ng direksyon natin na gawing mas sustainable ang operasyon ng pamahalaang lungsod—isang bagay na ilang beses ko na ring binigyang-diin sa ating mga State of the City Address sa ilalim ng ating Kalikasan Agenda (We have long begun the procurement of these as part of our direction to make the operations of the city government more sustainable—something I have repeatedly emphasized in our State of the City Addresses under our Environment Agenda),” said Mayor Ruffy Biazon.
Biazon explained that the procurement process began before the Middle East conflict but has proven even more important as global fuel prices continue to climb.
The new patrol cars have Battenburg markings, toplight blinker systems, and public address systems to ensure visibility and functionality during police operations.
Charging stations have also been installed at the Muntinlupa police headquarters to ensure continued service of the patrol vehicles.
