Zedrick Ivan Honorica’s bicycle – one that gave him fame and recognition -- was stolen outside a convenience store in Marikina City.
The delivery rider, who turned heads in the Asian Cycling Confederation Track and Para Track Cycling Championships after setting a new Philippine record in men's elite sprint, confirmed the incident to Manila Bulletin/Tempo after his bike was taken in Marikina Heights Sunday afternoon, April 12.
The 21-year-old athlete said the thief was unrecognized due to the angle of the CCTV.
He has already reported the incident to authorities who are still pursuing the suspect.
“[Pa-help naman po]. Nawala ngayon ngayon lang, Sa may 7/11 meralco, Marikina ako bumili and then paglabas ko wala na,” Honorica wrote on his Facebook post. “If ever makita nyo. Pa hold na lang. Salamat!”
Honorica, himself, also circled around neighboring barangays in hopes of recovering his bike.
Honorica owned the said bike since late 2024 and he personally upgraded it through the months while utilizing it as a source of income.
Fortunately, Honorica has an extra bike to use for his job, but is still hoping to retrieve his 'special' bicycle.
Last March 29, Honorica made an impressive feat after clocking 10.865 seconds to break the 20-year national record of Jan Paul Morales in Doha Asian Games.
