President, First Lady share 'date night' amid online health rumors
President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos spent a quiet “date night” on Saturday evening, April 11, stepping out for dinner in what appeared to be a light moment amid persistent online rumors about the President’s health.
“Took Liza out for a quiet dinner, just a bit of time away from the day,” the President said in a Facebook post, sharing photos from their visit to Finestra at Solaire in Parañaque City on April 11.
The First Lady echoed the sentiment in her own post, describing the evening as a chance to slow down.
“Good food, great company,” she said, underscoring a brief pause from official responsibilities.
“Sometimes it’s just nice to slow down and enjoy each other’s company… No noise. Just us,” she added.
She also posted a video of their interaction with a young girl they met during dinner.
“What's your name?” the President asked, as the girl, who had just taken a selfie with him, shared that she was dining with her family.
The conversation turned lighthearted, with Marcos asking about her meal.
“Plin? … Oh, yeah, yeah, beef ravioli. Pretty good?” he said, as the girl replied that it was her favorite dish.
The First Lady also engaged the child, asking her age and greeting her in advance for her birthday.
The President said the brief encounter served as a reminder of public service.
“Nice reminder of why the work we do matters,” he said.
The outing comes amid continued online speculation falsely claiming that the President had passed away. Such claims circulated on social media in recent days despite repeated denials and public appearances by Marcos.
Earlier, the Palace had dismissed the rumors as fake news and pointed to the President’s official activities. Marcos was also seen attending the Araw ng Kagitingan rites on April 9, where he led commemorations honoring Filipino veterans.
Photos and videos of the event showed the President actively participating in the ceremony.
Malacañang has repeatedly warned the public against spreading unverified claims, particularly those involving the President’s health.
Officials have stressed that such misinformation can cause unnecessary alarm and confusion.
The President has continued his official engagements following the rumors, including meetings and public events.
The Palace has maintained that Marcos remains in good health and is fully capable of performing his duties.
The recent wave of false claims has prompted renewed calls for the public to verify information before sharing it online.
The Palace has urged Filipinos to rely on credible sources and avoid amplifying misinformation.
