Probe continues as suspects remain at large in Valenzuela's P700-M fake perfume raid
The raid resulted in the seizure of assorted branded perfumes with an estimated value of P700 million, which were later turned over to the Bureau of Customs for further examination and proper disposition.
Police said a follow-up validation is underway to determine whether the seized goods had already been distributed to retail outlets in Valenzuela and nearby cities, raising the possibility of a wider network operating in Metro Manila.
Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Northern District Field Unit are also tracing import documents, shipping records, and logistics data to identify possible accomplices, financiers, and suppliers linked to the shipment.
Earlier reports showed that CIDG-NPD implemented a Letter of Authority issued by the Bureau of Customs at a warehouse inside a rubber manufacturing facility and import-export compound, where authorities discovered large volumes of imported perfumes suspected to have been unlawfully brought into the country in violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
The Philippine National Police said the operation forms part of its continuing nationwide crackdown on large-scale smuggling and consumer fraud, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle illegal trade networks and protect consumers from counterfeit and unregulated goods.
In a statement, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the seizure reflects the government’s firm stance against illicit trade.
“This operation sends a strong signal that large-scale smuggling and consumer deception will face firm enforcement actions,” Nartatez said.
