A major rollback in fuel prices is set to take effect on Tuesday, April 14, offering relief to consumers amid recent volatility in global oil markets, President Marcos announced.
“Simula Martes, April 14, may malaking rollback sa presyo ng langis (Starting Tuesday, April 14, there will be a big rollback in oil prices),” the President said in a video message on Sunday, April 12.
Marcos said diesel prices will see the biggest reduction, with more than P20 per liter slashed. Gasoline prices will likewise go down by P4.43 per liter, while kerosene will drop by P8.50 per liter.
The President said the rollback would provide much-needed relief to drivers, commuters, and households affected by high fuel costs in recent weeks.
“Malaking tulong ito lalo na sa ating mga driver, sa mga commuter, at sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino (This will be a big help especially to drivers, commuters, and Filipino families),” he said.
More measures coming
Marcos said the rollback is not enough, as the government continues to roll out interventions to ease the burden on the public.
“Hindi pa ito sapat (This is not yet enough),” he said.
The President assured the public that additional measures will be announced in the coming days and weeks, renewing his administration’s commitment to reducing the cost of transportation, food, and daily living.
“Hindi po tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin napapababa ang gastos… sa kabuuang pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan (We will not stop until we lower expenses… in the overall cost of living),” he said.
‘No Filipino left behind’
President Marcos reiterated that the administration will continue working to support Filipinos amid ongoing challenges.
“Hindi natin hahayaang mapabayaan ang bawat Pilipino (We will not allow any Filipino to be left behind),” he said.
He added that the government is focused on ensuring that families feel tangible relief from its policies.
The fuel price rollback comes as the government continues to respond to the impact of global developments, including tensions in the Middle East that have affected oil prices.
The administration has rolled out subsidies and other interventions to cushion the effects on key sectors.
Focus on daily relief
President Marcos said easing the burden on ordinary Filipinos remains a top priority.
“Siguradong may mararamdaman na ginhawa ang bawat pamilya (We will make sure every family feels relief),” he said.
The President assured the public that the government’s efforts to stabilize prices and support households will continue.
