5 hurt in van-truck collision in Nueva Vizcaya

DIADI, Nueva Vizcaya – Five people were injured in a collision between a trailer truck and a wing van in Purok 1, Barangay San Luis here on Saturday, April 11.
SFO1 Ernesto Pinonwangan Jr., officer-in-charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here, said the van burst into flames after colliding with the truck. Two passengers from the van and three from the truck were injured and taken to the hospital. The fire reached the second alarm.
Firemen said occupants of the van managed to escape although one victim was trapped after a foot was pinned inside the vehicle. The victim was rescued with the help of residents.
The fire was controlled after more than an hour due to the van’s highly flammable paper roll cargo. Damage to the burned vehicle was estimated at more than P1 million.
Arson investigators are determining the origin of the fire and the exact cause of the collision.
Pinonwangan reminded motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before traveling and immediately report any fire to authorities for prompt response.
