ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Western Mindanao Naval Command recovered more than P64-million worth of smuggled cigarettes during routine maritime patrol operations in Sulu.
Authorities stopped the vessel, MB Princess Zia, on Wednesday, April 8, 1.2 nautical miles southeast of Marungas Island, for an inspection.
Four-hundred sixty master cases and 44 reams of imported cigarettes were found.
The vessel, six crew, and contraband were turned over to the Bureau of Customs at the Port of Zamboanga on Thursday evening, April 9, for appropriate legal action.
