'Let's get married': K-series 'Perfect Crown' premieres with high ratings
“Perfect Crown,” the new Korean series starring IU and Byeon Woo-seok, made a successful premiere on April 10.
According to polling firm Nielsen Korea, the rom-com’s first episode on Korean TV broadcast network MBC garnered high ratings, recording 7.8 percent (second place) nationwide and 8.2 percent (first place) in the Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi) in South Korea.
The first place went to the Monday-Friday daily drama “Our Happy Days” (KBS1).
The 7.8 percent rating for "Perfect Crown" is higher by 3.4 percentage points than the 4.4 percent recorded for the first episode of the previous drama “In Your Radiant Season," starring Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop.
“Perfect Crown” ranked first among Friday-Saturday dramas. It achieved the top spot among the 20-54 demographic with 3.8 percent, a key indicator of channel competitiveness reflecting changes in the media consumption environment.
Set against the backdrop of the constitutional monarchy in South Korea, “Perfect Crown” is about the romance featuring a “chaebol” woman Huiju (IU) who has everything but is annoyed by her commoner status and a king’s son, Grand Prince I-an (Byeon Woo-seok).
In the first episode, Huiju proposed to Grand Prince I-an, saying, “Let’s get married.”
The second episode of “Perfect Crown” will air on Disney+ on April 11.
