TACLOBAN CITY – A 34-year-old farmer was electrocuted to death while fishing on a river in Barangay Casuntingan, MacArthur, Leyte on Friday, April 10.
Police identified the victim as Leo.
Investigation by the MacArthur Municipal Police Station said the victim went fishing at around 7 a.m. using an improvised electrofishing equipment.
The victim failed to return home by 7 p.m. and his wife and relatives searched for him. The victim’s body was found at 9 p.m. by his brother in a deep portion of the river.
Police found wires from the electrofishing gear wrapped around the victim’s neck. The victim was taken to Barangay Casuntingan where he was officially declared dead by a doctor.
The victim's family believes his death was caused by his fishing equipment and suspects no foul play.
