Taguig police arrest two men for carrying illegal firearms
Police arrested two men in separate operations for carrying illegal firearms in Taguig City on Wednesday, April 8.
Police patrollers caught alias Teofilo, 18, brandishing a firearm along Pulong Kendi Street in Barangay Sta. Ana.
Confiscated from him was a Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with two pieces of live .38-caliber ammunition.
On the same day, at about 8:40 p.m., personnel of Taguig Police Sub-Station 10 flagged down a motorcycle driven by alias Terrence, 25, at a checkpoint on Maya Street in Barangay Rizal.
He was arrested after being found in possession of a firearm and other items without the necessary legal documents.
Recovered from him were an Intratec Miami, FL 9mm Luger firearm with serial number, a suppressor, a magazine, five pieces of 9mm live ammunition, a sling, a white bag, and a motorcycle.
The two suspects were brought to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for medical examination. They were later turned over to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) of Taguig police.
They will be presented before the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office for inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
The confiscated firearms and other pieces of evidence will be submitted to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.
