Sexagenarian killed in accidental shooting

CEBU CITY – A 63-year-old man died while his wife was wounded in an alleged accidental firing in Barangay Bagakay, Toledo City, Cebu on Friday morning, April 10.
Police said Merto Goc-ong was hit in the stomach after his improvised shotgun went off.
‎Goc-ong's body was found in his home.
Before the discovery of the body, police received a call that a woman with a bullet wound in the head was brought to the Toledo City General Hospital.
‎At the hospital, the woman told police that she was wounded after the shotgun of her husband went off.
The woman said her husband was unloading the firearm when it suddenly went off, hitting them both.
Police proceeded to the couple’s house and found the man lifeless.
A 23-inch shotgun, two live bullets, and an empty shell were recovered in the house, police said.
