Goyang Sono star Kevin Quiambao continues to impress overseas after he added another feather to his glowing cap by winning the Rookie of the Year award in the 2025-26 Korean Basketball League (KBL) Thursday, April 9.
The 24-year-old Quiambao took the plum after showing brilliance on both ends, averaging 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per contest.
Those statline played a big role in Goyang’s stellar run this season where it is set to enter its first-ever playoffs appearance after finishing fifth with a 28-26 card in the standings.
It is far from their campaign in the previous year where Quiambao and the Skygunners settled for eighth place (19-35).
Quiambao, a two-time UAAP champion with De La Salle University, joined fellow Filipino cagers in former Ulsan and now Ginebra guard RJ Abarrientos and Suwon KT’s JD Cagulangan to win the individual plum.
It marked the third consecutive season where a player from the Philippines earned the said feat.
Filipino-American Ethan Alvano of Wonju DB Promy was also feted as part of this year's KBL Best Five.
This was not be the first time Quiambao dazzled in his freshman year as it can be remembered the Muntinlupa native plucked the ROY award in the UAAP nearly four years ago.
