Hot, humid conditions to persist over next 7 days; approaching cyclone unlikely to affect PH

Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in the coming days as generally fair weather prevails, with chances of localized rain showers or thunderstorms, according to the state weather bureau’s latest outlook from April 10 to 17.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ridge of a high-pressure area (HPA) and the easterlies will remain the dominant weather systems affecting the country.
The ridge of HPA is an anti-cyclonic system associated with fair weather, while easterlies refer to warm winds from the Pacific that bring humid conditions and localized rain.
From Friday to Sunday, April 10 to 12, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, and most of Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy skies due to the ridge of HPA.
The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by the easterlies.
From Monday to Tuesday, April 13 to 14, similar conditions will persist across the country, with localized rain showers or thunderstorms expected mainly over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
From Wednesday to Friday, April 15 to 17, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly over eastern Luzon and Visayas.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Sinlaku may enter or pass near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) during the period.
It was located 2,730 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao at 8 a.m. on April 10, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, while moving south-southwestward at 10 kph.
Once it enters PAR, it will be named “Caloy.”
PAGASA forecasters earlier said the weather disturbance may reach typhoon or super typhoon category, but it is not expected to bring significant impacts on the country’s weather conditions.
