EPD inks deal to support police families via online business
Recognizing the demands and risks of police work, the Eastern Police District (EPD) and Shopee Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen support for police families by providing accessible income-generating opportunities through electronic commerce (e-commerce).

The MOU was signed by Shopee Philippines Head of Commercial Jack Ng and Eastern Police District (EPD) District director Brig. Gen. Aden T. Lagradante at the EPD Multi-Purpose Hall along Caruncho Avenue in Barangay Malinao, Pasig City on Wednesday, April 8.
The EPD said the collaboration underscored a shared commitment to empowering the families of police through digital entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The partnership marked a significant step in advancing Shopee’s flagship digital skills training initiative, the Tatak Pinoy Program, which will provide comprehensive training on online store setup, digital marketing, and customer engagement strategies.
With the theme “Love at First Click: Negosyong Online para sa Pamilyang Pulis,” the program aims to equip families with essential digital skills and practical knowledge to establish and grow online businesses.
“The initiative reflects both organizations’ shared vision of enhancing the financial well-being of EPD personnel, who serve as frontliners in maintaining peace and security,” EPD said.
“We have always believed that e-commerce can be a powerful equalizer, and that belief extends beyond the marketplace,” Ng said.
“Through this partnership with PNP EPD, we want to give the families of our police personnel the same opportunities we are bringing to entrepreneurs across the country: real, practical skills that can help them build businesses and improve their quality of life,” he added.
The collaboration follows the success of the Shopee Tatak Pinoy MSME Roadshow, which has trained over 700 MSME sellers across 10 cities since 2025.
Meanwhile, Lagradante said that through the partnership, they aim to demonstrate their commitment to valuing not only their personnel but also their families, who support and stand behind them.
“Our partnership with Shopee reflects our belief that supporting our personnel goes beyond the badge. The EPD has always been committed not only to the safety of our communities, but to the well-being of the men and women who protect them—and the families who stand behind them,” he said.
“When we give our personnel’s families access to real livelihood opportunities, we are investing in their future and strengthening the foundation of our organization from within,” he added.
The EPD also announced that a series of e-commerce business seminars will be conducted in batches in the coming days.
“This partnership represents a forward-looking approach to community and organizational development—bridging public service and private sector innovation to create a meaningful, lasting impact for police families,” EPD stated.
